The joy of owning a British automobile, is driving it. On April 28th, we will gather at two starting locations, and both routes will join together to finish at Menghini Winery, just outside of Julian.
Our northernmost start point is at Kelly’s Pub, 15817 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego. We will have the use of the entire parking lot, and there will be food available to purchase. Owner DeeDee Kelly promises that she will have pastries, their famous breakfast burritos, and coffee available to quickly purchase and carry back out to the parking lot, to eat while you are kicking tires and sharing stories. Their kitchen opens at 7 am, if you would like to come early and eat sitting down. Please arrive by 9 am. We will roll out around 9:30.
Our southernmost start point is at Parkway Plaza West, we will gather at the parking lot in front of the Sprint store, 695 Fletcher Parkway, El Cajon. Directly across the street is a Panera Bread. Panera Bread has an extensive menu of muffins, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, coffees and teas. You can eat in, or take out, to join your friends in the parking lot, checking out cars. Panera Bread opens at 6 am, if you would like to arrive early and eat sitting down. Please arrive by 9 am. We will roll out around 9:30.
After about an hour and a half of twisty, enjoyable roads, with the two routes merging around Ramona, we will roll into the Menghini Winery for our picnic lunch. Menghini Winery was originally an apple orchard, and the ninety year old building is now the location of a small, family owned specialty winery. The owners, Mike and Toni, are car enthusiasts… they will bring out their MG and Jaguar, and open their collection for us to walk through. Menghini Winery, being quite small, does not have food available, but we encourage you to taste their wines! Bring your own picnic, as they are giving us the use of their mowed, tree studded meadow, with picnic benches. If the day is bright and clear, it will be a perfect place to linger, sip wine, and show off our automobiles.
Registration will open on MARCH 12th, and the cost will be $15 for online registration, or $20 on site.
If you are not currently on our email list, you can subscribe here. Emails will go out when registration is open. You will not need to use a credit card if you prefer to pay when you check in.
